Yellow beetle, gorgeous wormy

Some sort of bright yellow longhorn beetle got in my bedroom last night. I was too lazy to put him outside before going to sleep so we had a sleepover. I wish I got a better picture of him but once outside he flew away quickly. My gut feeling is a longhorn beetle, but it looked kinda similar to a squash beetle. I don't think he was as rounded, and had the rectangular shape of a lot of longhorn beetles. It was amazing how bright yellow it was in the sunlight, I didn't notice the color last night in my room.

This morning I also saw a sleepy eastern tent caterpillar. He was on my stair rail, waiting to be warmed by the sun. He was gone when I looked about 20 minutes later. They're such pretty little animals, absolutely one of my favorites. They look like an expensive rug or tapestry.

The other day it was a surprisingly cold morning, but one was munching away on a crepe myrtle leaf. It must have been 50 degrees at the warmest. I was really surprised he was able to move in the cold, but he was also in the sun which likely helped. They're known for being able to generate a lot of heat, especially when they're all together in their tent. They feel very cozy and warm in the hand. Also their blank, black velvet faces remind me of a stuffed animal.

Perfect animals... Maybe one day I'll make a plushie of one and use super luxurious fabric.

from the weekend

I got home from an event super late, I slept off my drunkeness at my friend's house. It was 5am and asleep on my doorframe was a huge dark spider with an eggsac. She was seriously huge, maybe 3 inches long. I was worried that opening the door would startle her into my house, but luckily she was too cold and sleepy to move.
